Zhongyu Cui

Zhongyu Cui is a visiting scholar of Faculty of Engineering of VUB in research group Electrochemical and Surface Engineering. He is also the associate professor of Ocean University of China since 2015 after he obtained his PhD in University of Science and Technology Beijing. Cui’s main research focus is on corrosion and environmentally assisted cracking behavior of materials in harsh marine environment, including the polar cold and the tropical environments. He is actively involved as manager of several research projects, dealing with the corrosion mechanism and life prediction topics. He is the promoter of several master students in Ocean University of China. He is also involved in the organisation of several International/Chinese symposia and workshops (ICCPA2022, CSCP 2021, etc). In 2021, he was granted with an Outstanding Youth Academic Award of Chinese Society for Corrosion and Protection. In VUB, his research emphasis is the characterization of non-steady electrochemical behavior using  ORP-EIS and local electrochemical techniques.
