Yakinthi Avtzi

Yakinthi Avtzi is a researcher at Vrije Universiteit Brussel in Belgium. After completing her MEng (Integrated Master) in Environmental Engineering at University of Patras, she pursued a research specialization program in SREMat (Sustainable Resources for Engineered Materials) in the Materials Engineering Department at KU Leuven, where she worked on industrial research projects focused on the valorisation of industrial residues into building materials.

Her current research at Vrije Universiteit Brussel focuses on cementitious textile-reinforced composites from AAMs (alkali- and acid-activated materials) for high-temperature applications. The project is funded by the Belgian Defence and is carried out in collaboration with MOSS Composites, FN Herstal, Sioen Industries, and GDTech.
