Vincent Vangrunderbeek

Vincent graduated as a master in Chemical and Materials Engineering and started his PhD at SURF in January 2022 under the supervision of prof. Herman Terryn. He applies a holistic machine learning modelling approach aiming to improve and modernize the way predictions are made of atmospheric corrosion over the lifetime of a steel substrate. His research is embedded in an international collaboration that conducts corrosion research with a data-oriented focus. He has a profound interest in applying data scientific methods to study atmospheric corrosion with a critical eye towards industrial relevance.
