Priya Laha

Priya read a B.Sc. in physics at Imperial College London, UK and an MSc. in Environmental Science at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), Belgium and joined the SURF (formerly META) group as a technical assistant in October 1997. She uses techniques such as Spectroscopic Ellipsometry, Auger Electron Spectroscopy(AES), Electron Microscopy, AFM-IR… etc, to characterize surfaces on a nano-scale in order to investigate issues such as corrosion, delamination, surface defects, effects of surface pre-treatments on metals such as different conversion and passivation systems for the automotive sector, electrochemical colouring of aluminium for architectural purposes,…etc. Supporting students at all levels (Bachelor’s to Post Docs) is also a large part of her responsibilities along with providing services to external entities (other universities, companies, judicial expertise cases…) through the Core Facilities Program.
