Negin Madelat
Postdoctoral researcher
Biography
Negin joined the SURF group in October 2019. Her Ph.D. research focuses on the effect of water and ions on the electrochemical behavior of organic coatings. She utilizes advanced Odd Random Phase Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (ORP-EIS) as a powerful technique to monitor changes in coatings after exposure to the corrosive electrolytes, such as uptake of water and initiation of corrosion. She also works with a combination of this technique with ATR-FTIR in Kretschmann geometry. This provides a spectroelectrochemical integrated methodology to better understand the local chemistry changes in the buried metal/coating interface in the same time frame as electrochemical changes.
