Mohamed El Marini
Biography
Mohamed studied chemistry at the ULB, with a master thesis in materials chemistry under the supervision of Professor Ustarroz and Professor Reniers. His purpose was to combine Pt electrodeposition with plasma surface treatments of carbon substrate in order to synthesize improved and durable Pt-electrocatalysts. In September 2021, he joined SURF in a project funded by FWO. In his PhD, he is trying to better understand classical and non-classical electrochemical nucleation and growth using numerical simulations. The purpose is to better understand these process and to improve the development of new electrocatalysts. He also try to understand, which is the influence of in situ-TEM experiments on these nucleation and growth phenomena.
