Mesfin Haile Mamme
Biography
Mesfin is an FWO funded joint postdoctoral fellow between the General Chemistry (ALGC) and the Electrochemical and Surface Engineering (SURF) groups. He received MSc in Materials Science and Engineering from Addis Ababa University (Ethiopia) in 2013. He graduated with PhD in Engineering Science from Vrije Universiteit Brussel in 2018. His doctoral research was examined the early-stage nanoscale electrochemical nucleation and growth from aqueous and non-aqueous solvents through multiscale approach. Mesfin’s research focus includes Electrochemical energy conversion and storage devices (Lithium-ion batteries and beyond, fuel cells, supercapacitors and electrocatalysis), Nanoscale surface and interface electrochemistry, nucleation and growth, electrodeposition from different solvents (aqueous, organic, ionic liquids and deep eutectic solvents) and Multiscale modelling of electrochemical processes using: Finite element method (FEM), Brownian Dynamics (BD), Molecular Dynamics (MD), Ab-initio MD and Density Functional Theory (DFT).
Since October 2023 Mesfin is also part-time professor at SURF research group.
