Mats Meeusen

Mats completed his BSc and MSc in Chemical and Materials Engineering at the VUB in 2015. After obtaining a PhD in Corrosion technology and Electrochemistry focusing on corrosion inhibitors for hot-dip galvanized steel at the University of Delft (TUD) in 2019 he returned to the VUB to join the modeling team of SURF group. Mats models the transport phenomena of water and ions in coated metallic substrates using the Finite Element Modeling (FEM) approach as a part of the SBO project ‘Predictcor’ which aims to develop a knowledge and technology platform for prediction of durability and lifetime of organic coated metals under long-term environmental corrosion.
