Jules Vermeiren
Biography
Jules Vermeiren has been a postdoctoral researcher at Vrije Universiteit Brussel since 2026.
From 2020 to 2025, he followed the Doctoral Programme in Engineering Science at KU Leuven in the Department of Materials Engineering under the VLAIO Baekeland mandate HBC.2020.2826. During the same period, he also worked as a project engineer at MEAM, contributing to the Interreg Vlaanderen–Nederland project BnB (Concrete to High Quality Concrete) and the EU project eQATOR (Building scalable, electrically heated catalytic reactor technologies that will allow conversion of biogas into syngas).
From 2020 to 2022, he worked as a project engineer at Recycling Assistance, where he contributed to the EU project WOOL2LOOP, focused on geopolymer technology for the development of mineral wool waste value chains.
Between 2018 and 2020, he completed a Master of Materials Engineering at KU Leuven. His master’s thesis was titled “Concrete-to-concrete: recovery of cement from mortars by microwave heating.”
From 2015 to 2018, he obtained a Bachelor of Engineering Science at KU Leuven. His bachelor’s thesis, written in Dutch, was titled “Monitoring van uitdrogend beton via percolatiesensoren.”
