Jessica Mangialetto
Biography
Jessica is a postdoctoral researcher at Sustainable Materials Engineering (SUME) in the FYSC Lab (Physical Chemistry and Polymer Science), within the Department of Materials and Chemistry (MACH) at the Faculty of Engineering of Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB).
She obtained a master’s degree in Chemical and Materials Engineering in 2018 through the joint Bruface program between Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB) and VUB. After completing her master’s degree, she began a PhD, first as an assistant and later as a doctoral researcher funded by a personal FWO (Fonds Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek – Research Foundation Flanders) mandate in fundamental research. Her PhD, entitled “Diffusion- and mobility-controlled self-healing polymer networks with dynamic covalent bonding,” focused on a phenomenological study of self-healing thermoset polymers in the glassy state. She received her PhD in 2023 and subsequently started a postdoctoral position supported by an FWO junior postdoctoral fellowship, aiming to develop Diels–Alder-based thermoreversible polymer networks with fast dynamics and tunable reversibility to broaden the application range of existing Diels–Alder systems.
