Jessica Mangialetto
Biography
Jessica is a postdoctoral researcher at Sustainable Materials Engineering (SUME) in the FYSC lab (Physical Chemistry and Polymer Science), part of the Department of Materials and Chemistry (MACH) within the Faculty of Engineering at Vrije Universiteit Brussel.
She received her master’s degree in chemical and materials engineering in 2018 through the joint Bruface program between Université libre de Bruxelles and Vrije Universiteit Brussel. After obtaining her degree, she began her PhD first as an assistant and later as a PhD student funded by a personal mandate in fundamental research from Research Foundation – Flanders. Her PhD, titled “Diffusion- and mobility-controlled self-healing polymer networks with dynamic covalent bonding,” focused on a phenomenological study of self-healing thermosets in the glassy state.
She obtained her PhD in 2023 and then started as a postdoctoral researcher with a junior postdoctoral fellowship from FWO. Her current research aims to develop Diels–Alder thermoreversible networks with fast dynamics and tunable reversibility, with the goal of extending the application range of current Diels–Alder networks.
