Görkem holds a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering. She later completed her master’s degree in Materials Science and Nanotechnology at Bilkent University. During her master’s, she worked on the interaction of quantum dots with different polymers to investigate their properties.
She is currently a doctoral researcher at Vrije Universiteit Brussel, working on the Research Foundation – Flanders SBO project LigDYN in collaboration with multiple universities and research institutions. Her doctoral research focuses on the development of lignin-based thermoreversible thermosets for more sustainable coatings and adhesive applications. The reversible properties of these materials offer promising prospects for reprocessing and recycling, while also providing bio-based alternatives to conventional applications.
