Fatma Demir
Biography
Fatma Demir is a postdoctoral researcher and project manager at Vrije Universiteit Brussel in Belgium. After graduating as a chemist, she completed her MSc in Polymer Science and Technology at Istanbul Technical University. She then obtained her PhD from the Faculty of Engineering at Vrije Universiteit Brussel, where her research focused on polymer:fullerene organic solar cells.
She continued her research as a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions postdoctoral researcher at Middle East Technical University, working on the synthesis of copolymers for organic solar cells. Her research later expanded toward mechanochemistry, smart polymers, and soft robotics at Bilkent University.
At Vrije Universiteit Brussel, she has contributed to several EU Horizon projects, including the MSCA-DN projects SMART and FET-Open SHERO. She is currently working as a postdoctoral researcher and project manager on the MSCA-DN-DurAMat project, which focuses on sustainable and durable additively manufactured metals.
