Beatriz de la Fuente

Beatriz joined the SURF group as a VUB funded predoctoral fellow in September 2021, after obtaining her diploma of Civil Engineering at the Polytechnic School of Brussels from the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB). During her PhD, she works on the development of photo-catalytically active semiconductors for carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCU/CCS) using nano-scaled molecular and surface characterization techniques. Because of the multidisciplinary nature of her project, she is also collaborating closely with the University of Antwerp, University of Hasselt, University of Ghent, KU Leuven and IMEC. Moreover, she has a strong interest in sustainable technologies and renewable energies; in particular solar energy-related applications to the industrial and mobility sectors.
