Biography
Alexander Lutz received his MSc in Materials Science from the Technical University of Vienna in 2009. He researched “Multi-action Self-healing Coatings for Corrosion Protection” during his PhD at the SURF Group at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB). After defending his thesis in 2015, his research topic focussed on increasing the recycling content in Aluminium profiles together with leading Aluminium extruder companies. In 2023, he moved for a postdoc position about defect phases on Nickel alloys to RWTH Aachen. In 2025 Alexander returned to VUB to continue his research on local electrochemistry, sustainable material science and surface analysis in the SUME group.
